Hired to make KPN do their work, moving forward on a sluggish modern workplace project. Through applying my specialisms, I managed to move the project forward and help the organisation to adept and train to work with the new environment. I was asked to consult in a datamigration project, where the local fileshares are migrated to Sharpoint online and OneDrive.

Active Directory / Ivanti specialist

After a succesful migration, I was asked to help with designing an organisation wide onboarding strategy. After consulting on the design, a full implementation through Ivanti WSM and Active Directory was performed.

• New design for application distribution through Ivanti WSM

• Restructured Active Directory security groups

• Setup more than 500 new security groups for application distribution and folder access for over 1000 endusers

• Cleaned up mess of several years of Active Directory mismanagement

• Documentation and training for the support organisation

Hired as a freelancer to create a technical design and migration plan for an automated migration from Office 2010 to Office 365

• Designed an OTAP strategy

• Decided on an upgrade path and automated through Ivanti WSM and Ivanti AM

• Tested and upgraded several homebrew and enterprise plugins (per example: Zivver, Enterprise Vault, eSuite)

• Designed and implemented a proof-of-concept environment

• Decided on a pilot program with key user sessions

• Prepared the production environment for migration, including Azure AD Sync connection, DNS suffix and automated license distribution

Hired as a freelancer to design and prepare the environment for an automated workplace migration from thin clients to 500+ laptops.

• Designed and implemented a fully automated Autopilot deployment, including automated group membership of new devices

• Designed and implemented a whiteglove strategy, including automated device encryption

• Designed and implemented Onedrive strategy, redirecting all local folders to Onedrive for Business and disallowing personal use of Onedrive

Senior system engineer

Within the System Engineering team we’ve started upgrading, professionalizing and migrating the mess that was left behind by years of mismanagement.

As a senior system engineer the following projects were my responsibility:

• Fully migrating the infrastructure servers (16) to Azure, including design, scaling and testing. Implemented a new IP structure, consolidated 4 different SQL servers and left behind an environment easily to manage and maintain
• Replaced an old Cisco ASA firewall with 2 Fortigate firewalls, redesigning the network topology and increasing security and uptime by implementing solid rules and policies, and setting up internet redundancy. Implemented SSL VPN as a replacement for Direct Access
• Designed and implemented an enterprise grade CA infrastructure, including an offline root CA and a separate webserver
• Designed and implemented a redundant radius environment, based on NPS, through implementation of PEAP and server certificates
• Setup and configured a new 2019-based SCVMM environment

As part of the system engineering team I’ve been consulting, supporting and maintaining a wide portfolio of clients; from small to large enterprises. The last year, I’ve taken on the responsibility of procurement, creating and expanding a large network of suppliers to find the best hard- and software solution (and price) for my clients.

As a system engineer I’ve been working on several projects, including but not limited to:

• Designing, implementing and supporting a multi-site controller-based Wifi network, over 250 access points, for a school environment, including implementation of STP throughout the existing network
• Designing, implementing and configuring a full hybrid Office 365 environment
• Designing a full IT environment from scratch, supporting 75 users but with the capability to grow to 400, including a virtual environment based on a Hyper-V cluster, full Office 365 hybrid environment, Cisco network, redundant datacenter server design, multi-factor authentication, hybrid Active Directory environment based on Azure, full flash-based storage based on Huawei
• Designed, implemented and maintained several Shoretel UC VOIP environments
• Migration from a homebrew ERP / CRM environment to Exact Online

Senior System Engineer

Started as a system engineer with main responsibilities being Active Directory, DHCP, DNS, Citrix, WSUS, HP Dataprotector backup solutions, VMWare, and being the first point of contact for our global IT team.

• Implemented 20 new domain controllers
• Setup DNS scavenging
• Cleaned up Active Directory, raised the functional level to 2008R2
• Sanitized and maintained the inherited Citrix environment.
  
• Setup a whole new WSUS environment
• Setup a global DFS infrastructure

• Implementing various Windows-based server environments, starting from scratch, advising the customer in creating a reliable network, designing, implementing and maintaining a solid base for a productive company.

Giving support on all possible end-user problems, e.g.: Installing and configuring wireless networks, removing viruses and spyware, making back-ups and reinstalling computer systems as well as the implementing of new networks, new systems and back-up solutions

• Excalibur is a business unit within Gem who handle the overflow for several different clients within Gem. Excalibur has proven to take on a lot of responsibilities and is expected to deliver extremely high quality work. Excalibur is considered to be a breeding ground for multi-talented agents
• As a CIN agent I was the first point of contact for any Cisco customer, partner, reseller or employee. Within this function I helped Cisco customers create technical support cases, contact resellers and directed calls towards Cisco employees

Interpolis

Service desk engineer

Started out as a service desk engineer for a major insurance company. Provided front-office support for 7200 employees by phone and e-mail, fixing software issues on-site. After a year I combined this with a PR/Communication function where I managed the company’s intranet, became the editor for an internal e-magazine and made several websites for different projects.
